Software Engineer job specification
Software Engineer job specification include job requirements as follows:
1. Presentation technologies (Eclipse SWT, DHTML/HTML, JSP, XSL);
2. Distributed component technologies (EJB, application servers);
3. Database design and development and data modeling (SQL, XML);
4. Fundamentals of computer science: object-oriented design and design patterns, data structures, algorithms;
5. Development process tools: IDE’s, compilers, debuggers, profilers, version control systems, code coverage and automated testing tools-
6. Extensive prior participation in agile software development processes, with emphasis on requirements gathering, milestone-based development and triage;
7. Experience with multiple operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 2003, Solaris, AIX, Linux, HP-UX);
8. Experience with application servers (weblogic 8.1, IBM websphere 5.x);
9. Experience with several relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2);
10. Desire to push oneself to grow and improve as a software engineer;
11. Knowledge of various applications;
12. Enthusiasm and knowledge of project lifecycles;
13. Analytical and problem-solving skills;
14. Attention to detail, even in pressurized situations as deadlines approach;
15. Numeracy (aptitude tests are an integral part of the application process);
16. Knowledge of the sector that you would like work in e.g. Finance or business;
17. Good interpersonal and communication skills;
18. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and senior management;
19. Ability to learn new skills and technologies fast;
20. Career motivation and a willingness to continue to further your knowledge and skills;
21. An awareness of current issues affecting the industry and its technologies.
