Job purpose of Purchasing director

To be responsible for defining and implementing the purchasing and development policy for the business. Managing our multi-person purchasing department and supervising its personnel, the Purchasing Director is responsible for maximizing the on-time and thorough fulfillment of customer orders, while maintaining economical inventory levels. Meeting these objectives involves:

Key duties/responsibilities of Purchasing director:

1. Oversee the day to day operations of buyers; interview and hire purchasing staff.
2. Responsible for analyzing fact and statistical analyses to determine product mix of supermarket products.
3. Ensuring clear communication to customers, as well as all departments within the company, of our offerings through accurate product descriptions and timely price updates.
4. Monitoring stock-outs, redlines, back orders, and delivery and quality performance of vendors.
5. Expand revenue by implementing strategies to reach the company’s objectives; partner with other departments to forecast sales, marginal, and inventory goals.
6. Replenishment of stock by placing orders with deliveries timed to reach inventory levels that meet shipping requirements.
7. Directly manage key projects & negotiations.
8. Implement all the dashboards and tools dedicated to increase performance (in terms of cost, delivery quality and sustainability).
9. Optimize and challenge supplier sourcing.
10. Some Negotiation of prices and payment terms with vendors.
11. Study sales records to effectively maintain inventory levels.
12. Analyze department needs and control budget allocation.
13. Planning and Forecasting near-term and future sales and inventory level requirements by SKU and categories of SKUs.
14. Monitoring and analyzing rates of sale; Reforecasting as necessary.
15. Coordinate all inventory that is ordered and finalize contracts for each supplier.
16. Evaluate suppliers based on quality, customer service, cost, and reliability.
17. Appraise products and services.
18. Monitor development of new products and projects.
19. Be a catalyst of creativity and innovation (new ideas, shapes and materials).
20. Develop and mentor a team.
21. Define the strategy and the purchasing policy to align with global practices.
22. Guarantee the realization of the different projects in terms of cost, time to market, quality and sustainability.
23. Manage a team of Buyer-Developers.
