Process of Competency Modeling
Competency modeling includes steps as follows:
Step 1: Identify values to customer:
• Therefore organizations have to define their outcomes / values.
• Organization must identify core value to customer from their products and services.
Step 2: Identification of major job functions / key process.
• Organizations also have to define their business process to enable them to deliver outcomes / values to customer.
Step 3: Identify KPI
Organizations have to define the time, cost and quality standards of each function / task of the business process.
Step 4: Identify competency
• Define the competencies required for each task in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes to complete the task within the quality standards defined.
• Identification of performance standards for each skill using a competency-based rating scale which describe various levels of performance.
Step 5: Validation
Validate the results of data collection and analysis.
Step 6: Competency development.
• Applying the competency models in human resource activities, as needed.
• Identify actuality of competency in organization.
• Make competency plan for each person / department and follow.
