Job purpose of Financial coordinator (vice president)

To be responsible for standard accounting clerical duties in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable.

I. Key duties/responsibilities of Financial coordinator:

1. Reconcile daily charges and cash, checks and bankcard payments.
2. Process, code, balance, and post over-the-counter payments and bankcards as well as patient payments received in the mail.
3. Participates in the development of other staff members.
4. Communicates potential coding problems, trends and Payor issues to the appropriate manager.
5. Prepare bank deposit and deposit summary after balancing payments to receipts.
6. Research refund requests and prepare request for managerial approval.
7. Resubmits remaining balances from primary Payor of bills to secondary Payor.
8. Maintain required patient payment records, reports and files.
9. Use computer system to generate information necessary for billing purposes.
10. Obtain and/or verify necessary demographic and financial information according to protocol.
11. Review and correct claim edits.
12. Maintain various payment spreadsheets for the dept.
13. Update patient information, provide any necessary forms needing completion, obtain necessary signatures.
14. Assist patient in office with billing or insurance inquires.
15. Post, review & follow up on all correspondence from carrier.
16. Answer the telephone by the third ring; and take messages when necessary.
